Description

As a nation, Canada has derived great strength from its multicultural heritage. In recognition of this fact, Canada Post Corporation is issuing a commemorative stamp on April 5, 1990. Its's issued in conjunction with the opening of "A Coat of Many Colours", an exhibit which trades two centuries of Jewish life in Canada, at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Hull, Quebec. Vancouver designer Friedrich Peter used Canada's emblem, the maple leaf, to create a mosaic design to represent Canada's diverse cultures and ethnic groups. Dynamic shapes of colour combine to create a background revealing a maple leaf. The word multiculturalism is steel-engraved in black. Peter also designed the Constitution, Terry Fox, and O' Canada stamps.
