Description
The design was executed by Mr. Ernst Roch of Montreal, an internationally known artist and designer. In the upper left corner of this stamp is a symbol to represent one to the primary sectors of Canadian economy. The symbol on the 1-cent stamp is 3 crystals, representing Canada's mining industry. Canada has long been regarded as a great natural reservoir of mineral wealth, much of which has still to be developed. Long a world leader in the production of nickel and irons ores, Canada was also a leading producer of many other minirals, including gold and uranium.
