Description

To replace the Canadian mammals definitive set first introduced in 1988, a new series of medium-value definitive stamps featuring fruit trees in Canada made its debut on December 27, 1991. One of only two walnut trees native to Canada, the Black Walnut is found in eastern Canada. Once in great demand for its dark and lustrous wood, it is rather rare today as it thrives best in natural habitat. Its edible kernel has a variety of uses including table nut, ice cream flavouring and as an oil for salad dressing.
