Description

October is Canadian Export Trade Month and Canada Post Corporation is recognizing Canada's leading role in international trade with the issue of a commemorative stamp. Canada's exports find their way to such top trading partners as: the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, West Germany, the U.S.S.R., France, the Netherlands, Korea, and Belgium. Canada is a leader in promoting the reduction of world trade barriers. Proof of this is the recent Free Trade Agreement with the United States. Les Holloway and Nita Wallace of Toronto's DesignSource created a design that symbolizes Canada's international relationships through trade. The world is shown in a box; Canada's role is identified by a maple leaf. DesignSource has also created other stamps for Canada Post Corporation: the Engineering stamp (1987), the Grey Cup stamp (1987), and the Baseball in Canada stamp (1988).
