Description

This 5 cents postage stamp illustrate the Loon, a bird well known on Canada's many lakes. The stamp was designed by Laurence Hyde of Montreal. By issuing this postage stamp, the Post Office Department wished to assist those private, provincial and federal Government Agencies striving to increase interest in the importance of securing and restoring the wildlife resources of Canada. These resources are of considerable economic value, and a constant source of pleasure to thousands in every walk of life.
